PCC to expand direct-to-payer connections

Practices in five states who use PCC software now have free, immediate access to the benefit information of some of their biggest Medicaid and commercial payers.

The PCC Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) team recently established direct-to-payer connections for practices in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Maryland, Arizona and Utah.

This means PCC practices in these states will now receive the most direct, cost-effective and most-supported EDI services for several of their most high volume payers.

The connections were activated on June 1 as part of the PCC6.22 release, said PCC EDI Team Leader Justin Ballou.

“This is a win-win for our clients, and we’ve implemented these connections in a way that makes them very easy to set up and maintain,” Ballou said.

In North Carolina, PCC practices now enjoy real-time eligibility verification for North Carolina BlueCross/BlueShield and North Carolina Medicaid. And in another example, Massachusetts practices now have direct-to-payer access to the Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan – the largest Medicaid MCO in the state.

PCC has repeatedly been the first EHR vendor to take advantage of the enhanced direct-to-payer connection that allows for real-time eligibility verification.

PCC, unlike vendors who contract with third-party claims processors, acts as its own clearinghouse, enabling it to provide free and direct-to-payer EDI services via hundreds of interfaces.
